“The 12. WMRA Long Distance World Mountain Running Championships will be held on next 4. July at Zermatt.
For the first year the competition is a &ldquo,World Championships&rdquo, where individual and team title will be allocated. Until last year the competition, in fact, was called &ldquo,Challenge&rdquo,.
24 Nations are present at the competition and in total 114 athletes (62 men and 52 women) are ready to start for winning the&nbsp,WMRA World Long Distance Mountain Running medals.
Slovenian Mitja Kosovelj (in the men race), Swiss Martina Strahl (in the women race) and USA runners are in the pool of the favorites for the titles but German, Russian and Italian athletes are ready to run a great race! A surprise could also always possible!”

At this moment this kind of competition seems not to be the only one in the mountain running and other similar events are staged by different Organisation or Association: WMRA hopes that in the next future situation will be clarified in order to have a clear understanding onwhat event could be under WMRA authority and to avoid confusion on these matters.
The 12. WMRA Long Distance World Mountain Running Championships 2015 will be certainly well organised by staff of the Zermatt Marathon, and WMRA thanks for this not only LOC of Zermatt Marathon but also Swiss Athletic Federation.
At the event will attend on charge of WMRA following Officials: Wolfgang Munzel (WMRA Council member and WMRA Delegate to the Championships), Nancy Hobbs (WMRA Treasurer), Tomo Sarf (WMRA Council member) and Andrzej Puchacz (WMRA Council member).
